It would seem that nothing can get done these days without computers, there all over the place, in planes, cars and now even children toys its all around us yet some of us seem to have been left behind. Weather we admit it or not computers is the way of the future and we need to get cracking. Although we may never be able to understand how computers work in all these gadgets we need to at least know how it works with the Internet.
I realize that a lot of people don't know the first thing about computers far more the internet, and every time they learn something today, there are ten new things to learn tomorrow. It is very difficult to keep up with the constant daily changes in technology around us.
The Internet is simply a big online library where you can find nearly any kind of information you want. The greatest strength of the Internet is also its greatest weakness. INFORMATION and plenty of it. There is so much information available that it is hard to distinguish what is accurate and what is some fool just putting down his opinions on paper. It can take a very long time to find what you are looking for. Something to consider when looking for information of real importance is looking in on Blogs, Forums and Chat rooms.
When we do a search for any thing there seems to be millions of options available sometimes billions, this can be very overwhelming and confusing when deciding which is the correct answer to a particular questions that you might be looking for.
This is why blogs chat rooms and forums are very important for any body looking for reliable information on any particular topic, Blogs and Chat rooms are sites where people can give there opinions and swap knowledge on topics of interest to them. Forums are the same just it's a bit more formal in the topics they talk about, more along business, Politics, Current affairs and stuff like that. So if for example you need to know anything about Star trek go to a related chat room or Blog and read what is already there and if there is no information on what you looking for, just ask a question and 99% of the time you would get tons of information on the subject. You will meet persons who are very knowledgeable about the topic and persons who are not, but the important thing to pay attention to is that you will not just be getting any one persons opinion.
There are Blogs, Chat Rooms and Forums on nearly any topic you might be interested in and the beauty part of this is most of them are free you just find one that you like sign up and you are ready.
A great bonus to this is that you can make friends online who would have some of the same interest that you do so for those of you who thought that using the internet would be tedious and boring THINK AGAIN.

Internet Forums and Their Use
Forums; commonly referred to as message boards, discussion groups and bulletin boards. They are a web application for holding discussions and posting user generated content. If you need help or advice you can almost guarantee there will be a board about the specific topic area where you will be able to contribute to the discussion and find out exactly what you need.
They are created and used for a number of different reasons. For example most bands and music artists that have a website will more than likely have one where fans will be able to discuss the recording artist and interact with other people who share the same interests.
They can also be used by businesses as a way of showcasing their expertise in the hope of enticing new customers to their business. In this case the forum is used as a way of marketing; it sells the business and its service to members of the public and people can use forums such as this to find a business service that they need.
They are free to use and anyone can use them. There are a few still around that require no registration meaning that anyone can just go and post a message on it. However due to problems with spammers taking advantage of the fact these forums don't require registration, many of the one that are built today are built so that in order to post you have to register. Registering merely takes a matter of minutes and by registering with a forum you have the option of choosing your own username and image, known as an avatar. You also get the option of writing your own signature, which appears directly under you post. Within this signature you can post links to sites and include pretty much any information that you want.
They are modified by people known as administrators. These administrators are usually people that have something to do with the building of the site or is someone who is employed by the site owner to do this particular job. Administrators modify the posts that are made, they can move, delete, and edit topics. They also have the power to shut the forum down as well as being able to delete, ban and create members. This is effective but also hard work, administrating takes a lot of time, often more than the administrator is given.
Like many places across the Internet, they can sadly suffer from spam. Although the introduction of making registration compulsory across many of them has reduced and stopped some of the spam from getting through, spammer's have created what are known as spambots. These are programmed to be able to fill in a registration form and are programmed by the spammer to leave messages promoting the spammers service/product. Spambot's signatures on forums are always more than likely filled with links taking you to explicit or malicious content.
Forums can also suffer from individuals known as trolls. These individuals breach the rules of forums by posting derogatory messages about sensitive topics and often post links to 'shock sites' as well as placing images across the forums that other members may find disturbing.
The positive aspects of use however greatly outweigh the few negative aspects that we can see through spambots and trolls. Forums are a great resource on the Internet and will continue to be in the future.

Until recently, the internet was controlled by the people with all the dollars. They told us what we wanted, where we could get it, and how we had to use it. With the development of Web 2.0 all that has changed. The internet has taken a 180 degree shift from a supply dictated existence, to one that is demand controlled.
Everyday the web is taking new form by the actions and behaviours of the user. The popularity of sites such as MySpace, YouTube, and Facebook are clear indicators of this. These sites are the more obvious changes that everybody is seeing. Another very significant change is that of the online entrepreneur. Now anyone with a credit card, a brain, and a bit of time to devote, can make significant fortunes online in a very short space of time.
eBay businesses were perhaps the earliest example of this. Anybody who had a talent, specifically in a product niche category, were able to setup shop quite quickly and painlessly, achieving substantial profits on their products. By culminating under the branding of eBay, they were able to instantly obtain market credibility, but more importantly, were now operating in a global marketplace, with a potential client base of around 500 million people. But that was the old days.
